The design goal for Fieldy 3 was to find the archetypal form of an always-on audio-only AI wearable — what are the necessary inputs & outputs, what’s the materiality, the size, shape, what are the possible form factors. The answer: a 17g seamless body reduced to a microphone, a privacy indicator, and a single button — worn as a pendant or on the wrist. The dual-cavity injection mould for “3” was made from a CNC milled and copper EDM processed grade 1.2083 mold steel, then polished to a high optical-quality mirror finish that made it possible to design the G3 continuous form with a near 0 degree draft angle. The mould was then hardened to ensure its longevity for up to 1 million cycles.
